Group Show

SETAREH is pleased to announce the upcoming group exhibition Feeling the Room Temperature, it will run from July 10 until August 31, 2021 at SETAREH Berlin, Schöneberger Ufer 71, 10785 Berlin.

Swiping and scrolling have become a common gesture. One swipes through dating apps, one scrolls through social media and the eyes scan through an infinite amount of information. The brain processes it and your gut disgests it and a feeling is created. A feeling of disgust, pleasure, joy or sadness that makes your finger stop, your eye pause for a few blinks and you breathe and feel.

Each work therefore invites you to swipe, scroll, scan, ponder,
digest and asks you how you feel in this space. Is the temperature okay?

With his painting of a young man in a forest clearing, Filippo De Pisis (1896–1956) commemorates a friend who took his own life.
The 4-part work ‘Un peu beaucoup’ takes up this motif of complete vulnerability. The use of increasing color intensities creates a growing sense of urgency in the image space.

Starting from the typical aesthetic of the stages and grandstands used in the authoritarian exercise of power—which can never succeed without controlled audience integration—the work ‘Macht Nichts’ harnesses the museum architecture of the exhibition space. Based on the dimensions and proportions of the Nuremberg Zeppelin Grandstand (Albert Speer, 1905–1981), the sculpture poses questions about the interplay between staging, sensation, and perception. What remains after the spectacle? What is indelible and what is eroded?
The repetition of unequivocal failure?
